Mo's Challenge #78

New Beginnings

This week's challenge is called, "The Start of Something New." This will be open to your interpretation, but it would be wonderful to include an explanation if it's not as obvious as a new home, baby, job, marriage, etc.

My card uses an image from Mo's set of babies, "The Diaper Crew."
There are six adorable little babies in the set, all in different poses.
I made a quilt background, roughly following a tutorial I found on Splitcoast Stampers. It was so much fun and a great way to use up some scraps! I used 1" squares instead of the 3/4" squares the tutorial called for, because all my cards are 5" x 7", and I wanted it a bit larger.
I wanted to do a color combination that wasn't a traditional choice for a baby card.
I think I managed to do that!
I'll certainly be making more of these quilts!
The satin ribbon was hand-basted and ruffled before adhering it to the card.

Images: Baby from Mo's Digital Pencil, Sentiment stamp

Tools: Copics, Needle and thread, Die-Namics Flower die, Cuttlebug with Embossing folder, Mounting tape, Tacky tape

Papers: SU! Barely Banana, Brilliant Blue, Bashful Blue, Gable Green, Neenah smooth white, Basic Grey DP

Embellishments: Grosgrain ribbon, Satin ribbon, Button brads

Now we want to see you start something! Make a card or project and upload it to Mo's Challenge.
You may be the lucky winner of an image from Mo's Digital Pencil!

Have fun!
Elaine

Oh Elaine...YIKES!!! When I first saw your little creation here, I just figured you had used some fun "quilt patterned" paper. But oh my gosh...you MADE the quilt with scraps?!! I am totally lovin' this! And the satin ruffle...reminds me of the blankie my oldest son carried around until it was in tatters!! Gorgeous card...I need these babies too...adding to my "must have" list!! Thanks for the great quilt idea and wonderful inspiration!! Hugs. Pat
