Such Sadness.

In Keegan's Memory

Our hearts are broken. Our youngest son's friend and best man at his recent wedding lost his battle with Hodgkin's disease a few days ago. He had almost completed his chemo therapy and was to be pronounced cancer-free, when he suffered a severe reaction to one of the drugs. He was placed on a ventilator and put into a medically-induced coma in the hope that his lungs would recover.  Unfortunately, it wasn't to be, and he died shortly after his family and friends got to say their final goodbyes. He was just 31 years old.

These are the cards I made to send to his family and girlfriend.
He had been planning on proposing to her when he was done with his treatments.

Sympathy Cards

Lovely Scenery

Unfortunately, it's a fact of life that we all have the need for sympathy cards on occasion. They are my least favorite cards to make, but I've found some pretty scenic images that I've really enjoyed coloring, and they make wonderful cards for expressing condolences.

This first card uses a beautiful free image from Digital Two for Tuesday. They have a lovely image of an old mill with a waterwheel as well.  I really love this homey scene! It's very versatile and could be used for other happier occasions, too. It would be perfect for Mother's Day, birthdays or for someone moving into a new home, to name a few.

This pretty bridge scene is from Imag-e-nation. They have a few more scenic digital images that are equally as nice.
This card is going to a family friend who lost his father very recently.

I hope you don't have any sad occassions to use these images, but they would certainly do for happier times, too.

More Digital Images

A Vintage Image

I check the Digital Two for Tuesday Blog every week or so. She posts at least two free vintage images each week. The subjects run the gamut from nursery rhymes to fashion through the decades to old autos, so I'm sure you'll find something to your liking there.

This is an image I downloaded quite some time ago....it looks to me as if it's from the 20's or 30's. She gets a lot of her images from old children's  books. She also sells vintage images in clear stamps.

The English Countryside

I came across a new digital company, Just Inklined, on Lydia's Blog recently. Of course, I had to check them out and found this pretty image (and a few others!) that I had to have. I'm not usually fond of scenic stamps, but I needed something other than flowers for sympathy cards, and this looked so serene and inviting.
