Mo's Challenge #119

These are a Few of My Favorite Things!

Mo's Challenge this week is to use one of Mo's images with some of your favorite things!
My number one favorite thing  is any of Mo's images, so that part was easy!
I chose "Make a Wish " as my image for this card. It's great for a birthday or get well greeting.

I couldn't use all of my favorite things, of course....the card would have weighed a ton and been gaudy to the extreme!  Besides Mo's fantastic images, I  love wonderful colors, designer papers, SU! card stock, gingham ribbon, flowers, beads, pearls, and Copic markers! I also love die-cuts, punches, and lace!
I have more of the aforementioned items than I'll ever use in my lifetime, but I can't seem to stop myself from buying more!

Tools: Copic markers, Distressing tool, Silver Spica pen

Papers: SU! Poppy and Cool Caribbean, Neenah smooth white, SU! DP

Embellishments: Hat pin and Flowers from WOC, Gingham ribbon, Beads

I've got a brand new pair of roller skates....
You've got a brand new key!

In my mind, his little one just had to be a redhead, and this great paper was perfect for her! I used two MS punches along the bottom and used a small flower punch to punch the flowers out of a scrap of DP. I mounted them on the card using dimensional dots to create a little flower garden.

Tools: Copic markers, MS Fence and Grass punches, Small flower punch, Distressing tool

Papers: SU! Celery and Turquoise, Neenah smooth white, My Minds Eye Stella Rose and Basic Grey  DP

Your turn! Show us what your favorite things are...make a card using one of Mo's images and your favorite embellishments, tools, techniques, or what-have-you and share it with us in Mo's Challenge for a chance to win an image to add to your collection!

Love it when you visit!

Mo's Challenge # 118

You Old Sew and Sew!

Pat Frank has chosen our theme for this week, and her challenge is for us to create a card or project using stitching.  You can either haul out your sewing machine, sew by hand, or do faux stitching with a marker or gel pen. I love to sew on cards, but this time I used a marker and faked it!

I used Mo's adorable little Romani (Gypsy)  girl, "Georgia" for my card.  I used colors and embellishments that I feel are reminiscent of their  culture. It was by chance that I found ribbon in my stash that perfectly  matched the way I had colored the trim on her vest! I wish that I had given her a darker skin tone for more authenticity. I may darken it before I put the card out for sale.
The little hand-painted pottery basket was made in Czechoslovakia.

Tools: Copics, Prismacolor pencil, Cuttlebug with Cheery Lynn border die, SU! thin black marker, Small note and heart punches, Nellie Snellen embossing leaf punch set

Papers: SU! Wild Wasabi and Real Red, Neenah smooth white, Cosmo Cricket DP
Embellishments: Ribbon, Assorted flowers

We'd love to see what you'll do with one of Mo's images and some stitching!

Mo's Challenge # 117

No Frou-Frou, Please!

For Mo's Challenge this week it's "Clean and Simple." We are to use one of Mo's images and keep the embellishments to a bare minimum. Her images are wonderful enough to shine on their own, so it shouldn't be too hard!

This card uses Mo's "Lacie", and she's all done up in ice cream colors!

I did keep the extras simple...just a few tiny flower brads and a grosgrain bow, so I think I'm legal! LOL! The striped DP was a gift from a friend who's an SU! demonstrator.  I believe it's from the Sell-a-Bration catalog.

Tools: Copics, Cuttlebug  with Nesties

Papers: SU! Gable Green, Cool Caribbean, Groovy Guava, Neenah smooth white, SU! DP

Embellishments: Mini brads, Small flower brads, Grosgrain ribbon

Now it's your turn to put aside all your pretty lace, frilly ribbons, gorgeous flowers, bright baubles and beads, grab one of Mo's images and make something simple and beautiful  for Mo's Challenge!

I love it when you visit!

Mo's Challenge # 113

The Fabric of Our Lives

That's the theme our hostess, Dorcas,  has chosen for Mo's Challenge this week. I had a couple of ideas, but settled on using "Trudy's Party Dress" and making her a little cotton apron.

I can only give general instructions, because my cards are always 5" x 7",  and I think most of you do smaller cards. I measured her waist and how long I wanted the apron to be then tripled the waist measurement and added a little to the length to allow for a hem. I cut out a rectangle of fabric following those measurements, hemmed the bottom and sewed a basting stitch along the top. It was than gathered to fit her waist, and  a length of ribbon  was sewed along the top to cover the basting and act as the ties. I had cut out and mounted the image on the DP, so slits were cut for the ties, which were then pushed through to the back and secured with tape. I used narrow double-sided tape to secure the apron to her dress and added the satin ribbon rose for decoration. I think she turned out cute, and will probably do this again.

Images: "Trudy Party Dress" from Mo's Digital Pencil, SU! Sentiment from "Short & Sweet"

Tools: Copics, White gel pen, Black ink pad, Sewing machine, Cuttlebug with Marianne swirl die and Shape-abilities Parisian die,  Xacto knife

Papers: SU! Blush Blossom and Brocade Blue, Neenah smooth white, "Posey" digital DP from Raspberry Road

Embellishments: Flowers from WOC, Grosgrain ribbon, Ribbon rose, Gathered lace

Let's see what you'll do with this fun challenge! The DT has lots of different ideas and plenty of inspiration to get you going!
